Lab Session – Composite Platform

Proccessing – Infusion

Supervisor: Sébastien Comas – Jean-Michel Lebrun
Duration: 4 hours
The objectives of this Lab Session are the following:

– Manufacture continuous fiber reinforcement composites infusing a thermosetting resin

– Measure the hydraulic in-plane permeabilities of fiber reinforcements

– Determine the influence of shear and 3D geometrical features onto the resin flow during the impregnation stage.

Processing – Fabrics, Draping of fabrics and Consolidation

Supervisor: Sébastien Comas – Jean-Michel Lebrun
Duration: 4 hours
The objectives of this Lab Session are the following:

– Measure the technical characteristics of a fibrous reinforcement

– Drape fabrics on various 3D molds

– Manufacture a 3D composite part constituted of continuous glass fiber reinforcements and thermoplastic matrix using consolidation in a press

– Determine the processing influence on the composite material and on the product properties (performance, defects, anisotropy, fiber volume fraction, dimensional tolerances…)

Characterisation – Rheology

Supervisor: Guillaume Racineux
Duration: 4 hours
The objectives of this Lab Session are the following:

– Learn how to use a capillary rheometer

Characterisation – Scanning Electron Microscopy Imaging

Supervisor: Bertrand Huneau
Duration: 4 hours
The objectives of this Lab Session are the following:

– Learning how to use a scanning electron microscope

– Learn how to use chemical analysis by X-ray photon energy dispersive (or selective) spectroscopy (EDS).
